   洞庭明珠—西山岛，世称洞庭西山，面积82.63平方公里，是洞庭中第一大岛，也是我国淡水湖泊中****的岛屿。岛上缥缈峰海拔336.6米，为洞庭七十二峰之首。登高远眺，湖中群岛、峰峦坞谷、湖湾人家、近山远水，一一映入眼帘。清代诗人凌如焕称之谓“水抱青山山抱花，花光深处有人家。”
    西山景区是洞庭风景名胜区的精华，由洞庭山等22个岛屿及附近湖面组成。景区内景色秀丽，旅游景点众多，不仅有洞庭第峰—缥缈峰、千年古村落—明月湾、石公山、林屋洞、包山寺、古樟园等著名的景点，也有绿光休闲农场、牛仔乡村俱乐部、消夏湾垂钓中心等现代的休闲场所。
    景区气候宜人、物产丰饶，是名副其实的“花果之乡”。这里是中国名茶—碧螺春的故乡，还盛产枇杷、杨梅、板栗、桔子、白鱼、白虾和银鱼（银鱼、白虾、白鱼）。正可谓“月月有花，季季有果，一年十八熟，天天有鱼虾”。

    Taihu Mingzhu----Xishan Island is commonly named Dong Ting Xi Shan. Xishan, with a total area of 82.63 square kilometers, is the largest island of Taihu islands and the biggest inland island of China. The hill of Floating Mist on the island is topping all the 72 hills around the Taihu lake, having 336.6 meters above the sea level. If you ascend a height to enjoy a distant view, you may inebriate yourself in the harmony of the surrounding sceneries, such as peaks and valleys, islands in the middle of the the Taihu Lake and living houses in lakefront, hills nearby and waters faraway. Poet Ling Ruhuan of Qing Dynasty praised the sceneries as “ Hills surrounded by waters while flowers surrounded by hills. In the deep side of the sea of flowers exist the living houses of the local residents”.
    Xishan scenic spot is the essence of Taihu scenic areas, which is composed of 22 islands together with the surrounding water area. There are lots of attractions with charming beauty, such as Stone Old Man’s Hill, Hall-in-Forest Cave, Baoshan Buddism Temple and some modern leisure and entertainment places as Lvguang Leisure Farming , Buckaroo Country Club, andXiaoxiawang Whiff Center.
   The scenic zone has warm climates with fertile land and abundant products, by which it is named as the well-known Land of Flowers and Fruits. Xishan Island is also the birthplace of Biluo Chun Tea which is the classic tea in China. The place of Xishan Island is rich in loquat, waxberry, chinese chestnut, Taihu Three White Qquatic Products(Taihu White Shrimp, Taihu White Fish and Taihu Silvery Fish). As the saying goes “ Flowers bloom every month; fruits ripe every season; fish and shrimp eaten every day”.
